A Tabula Set

How to Play

  • The aim of the game is to move all your counters on to, around and off the board before your opponent.
  • The order of play can be decided by any method acceptable to the players.
  • Counters bear on in the top right, and move anti-clockwise around the board (from the first player’s point of view.) Both players bear on in the same place and move in the same direction.
  • Each die counts as a separate move. Players can move one counter three times; three counters once each; or one counter once and another twice. A counter moving more than once must be able to land on the intermediate segment(s.)
  • Players must make as many moves as possible for the rolled dice. ⇒ ####
  • A counter may land on any segment which is not full or blocked.
  • A segment is full when it contains 5 counters. Other counters may pass over, but not land on, a full segment.
  • A segment is blocked when it contains 2 or more opposing counters.
  • A single opposing counter in a segment can be knocked off if a player lands on it. Knocked off counters must re-enter the board from the start.
  • A player may not move counters onto or on the second half of the board unless all their counters are on the board at the start of the turn.
  • Counters bear off by exact count.
  • Counters may not bear off unless all the player’s counters are in the second half of the board at the start of their turn.
